Disclosure of COI (Conflict of Interest)
Industry-academic collaborative clinical oncology research involves both public and private interests. Public interests relate to societal benefits based on academic and ethical responsibility, whereas private interests include financial rewards, professional recognition, and other benefits associated with collaboration with industry. A conflict of interest arises when these interests conflict for an individual researcher. Such conflicts are unavoidable in modern society and are regulated by law in certain circumstances.
Matters requiring disclosure include those that occurred during the period from three years prior to abstract submission through the time of presentation.
For details, please refer to the COI page in the Online Abstract Submission System and select the boxes applicable to your situation.
The thresholds for mandatory self-disclosure for each category are as follows:
- Officers or advisors of companies or for-profit organizations, profits from stock sales, or patent royalties or licensing fees from companies: 1,000,000 yen or more
- Honoraria, such as lecture fees or manuscript preparation fees, paid by a company: 500,000 yen or more
- Research funding provided by a company: 1,000,000 yen or more
This conflict of interest disclosure is based on the JSCO Oncology Research Conflict of Interest Policy. For further information regarding conflicts of interest, please refer to the JSCO website
